The 2024 North v South competition, played between two teams comprising players from (roughly) around West Kilbride (the South) and two teams from elsewhere (the North) was played at Greenacres last night. Teams from the South were skipped by Austen Brown and Walter Brown whilst teams from the North were skipped by Jacqui Taylor and Colin MacDonald. Results from the two games played are added to produce a combined score with the winner determined by shots then ends.

The North initially opened up a lead over the South with Jacqui’s team dominating Austen’s team. As the match progressed however Walter’s team opened up a small lead over Colin’s team and Jacqui’s lead was slightly reduced. The match eventually came down to the last stone played by Walter with the overall score standing South 12 v North 14. With two South shots counting in the head, effectively levelling the overall score, Walter’s last stone was managed into the head to add a third shot, winning the match by one shot, South 15 v North 14 (with South and North tied on 8 ends each).

A really tight overall competition …. thanks to all those who represented both South and North. Well done the South for retaining the trophy.
